Cambodia during the Pol period suffered greatly from the attempts to ban all foreign and minority languages and cultural identities. Eventually these attempts turned violent and radical. Pol Pot decide to systematically exterminate the minority groups because he found them insignificant. The country of Cambodia today is still recovering from this horrific time period. The rebuilding of minority populations began after the overthrow of Pol Pot and is still continuing today.
