The race in New Zealand begins in the Canterbury region rising from the Pacific Ocean, across vast plains, through winding river valleys and into the Southern Alps that divide the length of the South Island. The teams must make their way from the garden city of Christchurch to the banks of the Rakaia River.
The contestants start going up the Rakaia River in a jet boat to their first challenge. Soon they must decide if they will use their skills to fish for salmon or ride through the river on an ATV to a rally car challenge. The final leg of the race takes contestants through farmlands at the base of the southern Alps. Their skill is put to the test in the Shemozzle- a traditional kiwi race that is usually raced by sheepdogs. The finish line will be at the Luxurious Terrace Downs Resort, which will also serve as a pit stop. |
